Organic SEO Is Crucial - But How Many Links Do I Have?

Anybody who knows anything about how to make money online via their home based business, has heard a couple of key things, namely, 1. “the money is in the list” and 2. “Driving Traffic to your site is what builds your list”. But very few people know how to check how well you are doing in driving that traffic or “new visitors” as I prefer to call it!…today I am going to tell you.

Talk to anybody who understands Search Engine Optimization or SEO for short and you’ll quickly discover that there are two key strategies in attracting lots of new visitors to your site, and without new visitors you are not going to sell your service or product. The two principle strategies are: PPC or Pay Per Click advertising and Organic SEO.

PPC can get you out of the starting blocks and driving traffic almost immediately, but you’ll have to pay for the privilege. Organic SEO on the other hand, takes longer, but in the medium to long term will get your site indexed highly within the main search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. So far so good.

The key to SEO is simply to get lots of links from sites that point to your site. There are all sorts of quality tests to evaluate the power and quality of any link which points to your website, but to keep it simple for today to get your site up the search engine rankings you just have to have more links pointing to your site than the others who are competing within the same niche.

Now, I have to add the caveat today, that that last two paragraphs are a dramatic oversimplification of the process, but they do clearly explain what is mean by Organic SEO in its absolute essence.

OK, but once you’re on that journey and have started to SEO your site, how do you know how many links you have pointing back to you site and therefore how much more work you need to do to get you to the next position.

Well today I am introducing you to what is called a Back Link Checker, a site that will show you both the total number and also the urls for all the links pointing back to your site. It does not provide any quality tests on each of those links and so in and of itself is a simplification of your SEO performance, but by providing you with the absolute number and then the addresses for each back link, it will act as an adequate quick reference.

So, click on the link below and then sign in via your Yahoo account or set one up for free and enjoy the new sense of empowerment that comes from being able to see  that catalogue of ever growing back- links:

May your success be more than you can hold!

interesting! thanks Kevin!

I always have you on the loop! Thanks for the info!

amazing! we can always learn something new from you Kevin! Thanks!

I’ve used this site quite regularly. In addition, http://www.statbrain.com is pretty good at getting an idea of how many visitors (roughly) are visiting your site on a daily basis. In addition, you can check your competitors.

My preferance is to use these sorts of sites as research rather than paid for SEO software which pretty much gives you the same information.

Any others that you might recommend?

You can also type “site:YOUR WEBSITE NAME.com” into a Yahoo search box and get the number of pages they have indexed and the number of inbound links.
