Most of us are now vaguely aware that the popular micro-blogging service Twitter is a simple and fun way to share short messages.

Twitter Backgrounds Can Really Lift Your Followers
But what a lot of people don’t realize is that is also an excellent NO COST traffic generating strategy helping you make money online, driving an enormous amount of brand new customers to your Internet Business, each and every day.
My friend Holly Mann (Real Life of Holly Mann – Official Website), a rapidly rising star of the Internet Marketing industry in the US, is not only regarded highly for her demonstrable integrity and her brilliant book Honest Riches, but Holly also generates around 10% of all her customers from Twitter…so this service is something that we can no longer simply ignore.
I am aware that as a relatively new service, many people’s knowledge stops with the recognizing the brand. So today, I am going to give you 6 simple, clear steps I am calling:
How To Use Twitter
1. Get Started
Sign up at http://twitter.com. You’ll need a username, a password and a photo for your profile. Once you’re registered, you write a message, or “tweet”, which is shared with anyone who is “following you”. Tweets from people you follow are sent directly to you. So as well as being a micro-blogging service, Twitter is also a social-networking tool.
2. Finding People To Follow
Ask friends for their Twitter username so you can follow them and their interesting friends too. There are plenty of celebrities tweeting – some are fake, others are the real deal (take a look at Celebrity twitter users and VIPs directory – viptweets). And http://search.twitter.com will tell you what people are talking about and point you towards users who might be interesting.
3. Twitionary
Names start with an ‘@’ so they’re recognizable as a username and to provide an easy way to link directly to a profile. Try to mark topics by putting a ‘#’ in front – this creates a hashtag, such as #iranselection, which helps other users find tweets about a particular subject, #hashtags – What’s happening right now on twitter keeps track of them.
4. Topics And Trends
Popular subjects appear under ‘Trending Topics’ on your Twitter homepage. Visit What The Trend? Find out WHY terms are trending on Twitter if you want to find out why some trends are so popular? Twitter does not have rules, but the community comes down hard on spammers. Some parties make sales pitches by marking tweets with popular hashtags to get attention. These are hard to avoid and may form an early part of your traffic generating strategy, but do be careful, because unless developed with a clear focus, they will be very unpopular.
5. Tweeting And Tracking
You can send tweets by SMS, and some phone networks (like Vodafone) will let you receive tweets as text message too. But the easiest way to track people you’re following is through a client application (such as TweetDeck, TweetDeck). These are generally more useable than Twitter itself and let you follow people, track conversations and search tweets.
6. Keeping It Short
Tweets are limited to 140 characters because Twitter was originally created for sharing SMS message, which are capped to 160 characters (Twitter reserves 20 for usernames). Useful tricks include shortening web links with a URL-shortening service like bit.ly, a simple url shortener. As for pics, Twitpic – Share photos on Twitter hosts images and provides a link to your photo as a short URL.
So there we go, a short whistle stop tour about what and how to use Twitter to make money online. I will be providing a lot more info within my future blogs, to help you take advantage of using Twitter as an Internet Marketing tool, to help you build your list of customers, but for the time being, sign up, play around and just start using this massive new service, which is taking our little globe by storm.
May your success be more than you can hold!

Kevin:
I want to ask you something. If I put the link to my blog in my twitter signature, does the robots read it also? Can it generate traffic that way also?
Thanks for everything Kevin, all your posts are of great use
Rita
Kevin I read somewhere that the more people you follow the better, and that Twitter has a limited followers that you can have (althought I think Ashton Kutcher broke that limit)… well the cuestion is: How can I make people actually click on my link, and how can I find the right followers?
Thanks for the help!
John
One Q.
I added my blog to facebook, so everytime I post a notification it’s send on my facebook, also my twitter account it is zync with my facebook account so everytime I post a new tweet it also appears on my facebook. Since then, the visits to my website had increased in a huge way.
Micro blogging does work it’s a matter of using all the tools in hand and most of then are free of charge so… it is worth it!
Great post Kev
Just wanted to share this link http://twitter.com/downloads where you can find interesting gadgets for Twitter.

Kevin:
I’ve seen a lot of programs online that claim to have the best product online to generate incomes with twitter… do the really work?
I don’t really think that doing some twitts a day it’s gonna generate me real income… I don’t know… I just don’t believe in twitter as a marketing tool.
Thanks for the post thought, I found it really interesting.
